CERN, as an international organization, is required to provide social protection to its employees, retirees, and their families. To ensure this protection, it has established its own pension and health insurance scheme. Measures have been taken to guarantee social protection in case of a possible dissolution of the organization. A working group is drafting regulations for a Swiss foundation that would replace the Pension Fund in case of dissolution.
